If you want to work as an Actor I am going to make sure you do. I’m not here to coach you, year after year, “preparing” you to be an actor. I am here to collaborate with you, giving you the chops to BE ONE and to send you out to act or to get into the best university to study. Then you’ll come into the studio with me for sessions to work on scripts and monologues because you’ll be a working actor. It happens to all of the actors here. And it’s a beautiful thing. Here are a few of the roles my actors have booked recently; the Netflix hit, “Chance”,”Thirteen Reasons Why” as well as HBO’s “Looking” and Woody Allen’s “Blue Jasmine”, “Touching Home” starring Ed Harris, to name a few. Theatrical productions include Theatreworks “Pride and Prejudice” and Berkeley Repertory’s “Hand to God” and there are many more in each of these categories all over the country, because I work with actors all over the country and world, actually, but I’m not doing this list here. Many of them have booked commercials, (Nationals and Regionals) and most have landed agents. They are either in SAGAFTRA and Actors Equity or on their way to becoming part of our performers unions. I am happy about that. I coach non actors, too,  creative executives, people from Silicon Valley and very interesting litigators.  I work with people doing Start Ups and I work with a lot or Screenwriters. I coach in the San Francisco Bay Area, LA and Online. I am available to travel. I offer artistic and industry assistance at no additional charge. Ask me questions! We work on technique, audition technique, monologues, scene work, commercial cold reading. We work on you. I come from Method and have been trained in several techniques and will not hold you strictly to Method if you have other ideas and they work for you.

Gil Gross, Host of The Gil Gross Show – KGO Radio, ABC “I have loved Kathryn Keats music from the day I first heard her sing, but even being a fan of her recordings did not prepare me for seeing her perform live. She is a great live performer holding her audience willing captives to each turn of a melody and the drama of every lyric. She more than sings. She inhabits a song and involves each member of the audience in its drama, joy or sorrow. There are performers for whom a performance is a night out. When Kathryn performs it’s a lifetime shared with us in a single evening. If you want to merely hear some tunes, there are many people who will do. If you want a real experience in music, there is Kathryn Keats.

Kathryn Keats

Mini Bio – Kathryn Keats is an educator, speaker, musician, singer, songwriter and writer whose fiery determination to live an effective and meaningful life ignites audiences, organizations and individuals to do the same. She delivers her message at universities, schools and organizations and coaches actors, music artists, executives, writers,  lawyers and has an affinity for collaborating with millennials. Kathryn re- emerged after twenty years of anonymity, surviving captivity for fifty-four days after the tragic illness of her collaborator and partner culminated in a disastrous and horrific experience for both of them. After her rescue, an arduous 31/2 week jury trial followed. It was an unprecedented case: a civil proceeding with a criminal standard. At the time, it was not a criminal violation to make a threat of great bodily injury or death. Her trial participated in changing that. After the trial Kathryn went into hiding for twenty years, changing her identity and abandoning her career in music, with the help of the Victim-Witness Assistance Program, not counting a brief appearance when she attempted to reclaim her work but was sighted onstage forcing her deeper underground. After the passing of her ex partner Kathryn was free to speak about her experience and has been a notable speaker and writer on the subject of living with, managing and overcoming PTSD. Kathryn has spoken at Unity New York, Center for Domestic Peace, YWCA, Antioch University – Los Angeles, Alameda County Day of Remembrance, Jeans for Justice – San Diego and Chords for Change, to name a few. Kathryn Keats has been on numerous radio shows and appeared in network and cable television interviews. Her story and writing has been featured in newspapers and magazines throughout the world.  Kathryn worked as a teenager with such legends as Tennessee Ernie Ford, Loretta Lynn, and Word Baker. She studied at the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music (CCM). Her studio work has included soundtracks and recordings. She created a one-woman show to mark her return to music, playing such well-known venues as the Knitting Factory in Los Angeles, Yoshi’s Jazz Club in Oakland, Ca and the Bitter End in New York. She completed a residency at Berkeley Repertory Theatre’s Ground Floor of her show and is currently continuing to workshop it in David Fords workshop at San Francisco’s The Marsh. Kathryn spoke and sang at my church, Unity of New York and had the crowd with her right from the start. Her dynamic delivery plus her considerable music talents totally captivated the audience. She was moving, funny and kept people in rapt attention in her sharing about her life’s joys and challenges. I recommend Kathryn to any group in either capacity as a musician or inspiring speaker.

Kathryn opened her keynote with a song, with such energy and enthusiasm, she drew our 300 guests right in, creating the perfect space to receive and experience her poetic and moving story. She was an artist, painting her life story on this oral canvas. She had us all laughing and crying – a perfect blend done with perfect timing. We were all moved and most grateful for her candor and honesty and contribution to our event.
